I’m a huge fan of Nicole Woolaston’s writing, especially her Our Lady of Righteous Rage series. I also enjoy the companion books she published for the series: books with stories that focus on specific characters from the regular series. The first, and one of my true favorites, is Novocaine. 

Novocaine follows Erin Michaels, who eventually becomes the band’s PR and Social Media expert. She recounts her journey from her home in Virginia, to her brief time in Georgia, to her arrival in New York. Teen-aged Erin is smart and sarcastic, and tells her story without pulling any punches. Her journey isn’t an easy one, and it’s filled with ups and downs, but her difficulties turn into a journey of self discovery. Erin ends up learning more about herself than she could ever have imagined.
