As a writer, I think of my books in terms of being my “children”. I watch them grow; them start out as ideas, then they become stories, then they become tangible objects (paperbacks, mostly). So, this post is one of my “Proud Parent” moments. The Witch of Fulton Lane is now part of the Hampton Public Library’s collection! It’s on the shelf in the stacks! In the Science Fiction section!!!
If you’re unfamiliar with the story, its about two women from two very different walks of life, who meet and end up becoming friends. Dylan Maycriss, is a witch who lives a solitary life on Fulton Lane. Josie Roman moves into a house on the same street with her husband, Stephen. There’s also a series of bizarre murders that take place in the area. This is a story filled with the paranormal, spirituality, friendship, mystery, and of course, the Craft.
I appreciate the terms that were used when this book was cataloged. For example, when someone searches the online catalog for books on the subject of “good and evil”, or “African American Women” or “witches” or “murder investigation”, this title should appear. I know, there are TONS of books in the library’s collection, but it’s still an amazing feeling to see something I wrote on a shelf, waiting for other people to enjoy it.
