NaNoWriMo: Copyright Disclaimers

NaNoWriMo is open to all writers, who are in the process of completing a novel. It doesn’t matter if you are planning to seek a traditional publisher, or if you’re going to publish your book yourself. Because I am a self-published author, most of my advice tends to lean towards self-published authors (it’s favoritism, I know). There are many things to consider when you’re writing a book. One of them, is the copyright disclaimer. I include a copyright disclaimer in all of my books. There are different disclaimers you can use, depending on which type of book you’re writing. A traditional publisher will most likely have an editor on hand, to write a proper disclaimer for you. If you’re self-publishing, chances are you will be doing this yourself. Generally, the copyright disclaimer is featured at the front of the book, usually on the fifth page.  The Book Designer offers six different disclaimers, which can be copied and pasted into your book. You can find them here.

Here’s my copyright disclaimer from Righteous:
