March 27, 2010: it was a wonderful time. My second published book, Valentine, had just been released. It was a proud moment for me, because Valentine was a book I had written just a few years earlier, on the fly. What I mean is, I didn’t really plan it the way I had planned the other books I had written. I didn’t outline the chapters, or make detailed notes about specific events I wanted to take place in the story. I had an idea, and I simply wrote the book, by hand. Years later, that handwritten book was typed, and published by Xlibris. Then I republished it with Amazon’s Create Space.

We’re coming upon the ten year anniversary of the day the world was introduced to Val Entienne and her cross-country journey to save her father. After the release of the second edition of the first book, the story became so much more that I originally imagined. Val went from a girl armed with a pair of guns, to being the brick that smashed the window of the organized crime system known as The Syndicate.With each new book I wrote for the series, I began to realize I had a little feminist on my hands.Val is a symbol; the Patron Saint of the Weak. She stands up for those who are too afraid to stand up for themselves. She strikes out against men who abuse women. She can’t stand a bully. 

The Valentine series did something none of my other series have done (yet). It led me to create not one, but TWO spin-of series: Valentine Apart and Lucia and the Saints. All three series can stand alone and be read separate and apart from the others. However, when you read all three, you can’t help but recognize the connections between them. The books in Valentine Apart help establish what led certain characters to Val and The Syndicate. The books in the Lucia and the Saints series are filled with foreshadowing. 

The bundles of the paperback editions of the Valentine series, Valentine Apart series, and Lucia and the Saints series are going to be 10% off through the month of February. Yes, I know the anniversary isn’t until March, but Valentine’s Day is in February (and so is Val Entienne’s birthday, which happens to be February 14th).
