Before 2015, I only had two series in publication: Fortune’s Wing and Valentine. I finally decided to publish the idea I had been thinking about for years. Our Lady of Righteous Rage was a bit of a risk: it’s an unusual idea involving anthropomorphized cat characters in a coming-of-age tale. But I went for it anyway, and I’ve received some great feedback and reviews. The reward was well worth the risk.
The first version I published, is not the version I intended. It’s censored, because up until that point in my writing, ALL of my work was censored. After the book became available, I went back to the manuscript, and tweaked it; adding all of the swear words I had removed the first time around. The story concerns characters who are growing up in late 1990’s/early 2000’s New York, and trying to start a punk rock band. They’re teens, and let’s face it: teens swear. Hell, adults swear. While the swearing isn’t excessive, I do feel it adds flavor to the story.
So, which version should you read? That depends on your taste as a reader. Does swearing offend you? If it does, I recommend the first version, or the one with the purple cover. If you’re wearing your big-boy or big-girl pants and a little cursing doesn’t bother you, go for the later version (the one with the black cover). And as a side note, the rest of the series is uncensored. The Extended and Uncensored version isn’t just uncensored, it also contains some bonus material.
