April is National Poetry Month, and what better way to kick things off than Poetry and Creative Mind Day? Every year during National Poetry Month, the Academy of American Poets presents a special celebration of poetry’s important place in our culture, along with its impact on the lives of readers and artists working in other fields.

In the past, there have been live poetry readings with actors, dancers, artists, and other public figures, including one of my personal favorites: Patti Smith. The event provides support for the K–12 Education Program of the AAP, which reaches more than 100,000 students each year with resources on Poets.org, the Dear Poet project, and materials created for National Poetry Month.
Sadly, the annual event won’t be held in person this year. However, there will be a virtual event on April 29, at 7:30 pm. For more information, please visit their website here: https://poets.org/academy-american-poets/programs/poetry-creative-mind
