KDP recently made an update to its publishing service, which makes it easier for writers to keep track of their series. If you’re publishing a book that is the first of what will become a series, you may want to take advantage of this feature. Simply click on the “Add Series” button when you set up your book. If you have already published the book, no need to fear! You can still add the series information and update your book’s info. I just went back and update the series info for all of my books. By using this feature, when a reader finds one title in your series on Amazon, they will also see the covers for the other books in the series. You can choose to have the books featured in the order in which they should be read, or out of order, if the order doesn’t matter.

Another helpful feature of the “Add Series” option: books don’t need to be numbered. If a book is simply a source of additional information to a series, such as a prequel or short story collection, there are different categories to choose from. When you enter the information for the series, you will be given the option of saying whether it’s part of the main content or not.
