I recently had an opportunity to move all of the items from my New York storage unit to my current home in Virginia. This was a seriously daunting task; physically, emotionally and financially. But in the end, I was able to sift through the storage containers and boxes that contained the memories from my life. What I was most excited about, was seeing my books again. Yes, I was happy to find the books I have collected over the past 30+ years. The books I’m referring to are the ones I hand wrote from my childhood into my adulthood. If it hadn’t been for these books, I can promise you I would not be a writer today. Grown-up me owes a lot to 10-year-old me and 14-year-old me, and so on.

If you’ve ever read an Our Lady of Righteous Rage book or a Valentine book, or even a book from the Fortune’s Wing series, you’ve read a re-tuned version of a book I wrote when I was much younger. But there are books I’ve written you’ve never read because I never published them. However, those books inspired the one I did publish. Over the next few months, I’m going to be paying a bit of an homage to all of those old handwritten books.

Before there was Our Lady, there was From Here To There. Before there was Valentine , there was Vengeance Angel Yuka. I’m going to share bits and pieces of these books here, but the bulk of my old writing will be found on Patreon. Sometimes its good to look back at the roots of your writing, and remember where all of those wonderful ideas came from and see how they have shaped you as a writer.
