Have you ever heard of “quiet quitting” ? It’s when an employee does the minimum that is expected of them at work. In other words, doing just enough to keep your job. I have a natural tendency to work harder than I probably should, which often leads to me feeling tired and burnt out at the end of my work day. I used to think quiet quitting was wrong, but lately it’s been looking better and better…
There is another movement in the world: Moving In Silence. While I usually dismiss any movement created or recognized by the younger generations, this is a movement I can get behind. People probably think, when I don’t post very often on this blog, its because I don’t have anything going on. Oh, this is FAR from the truth. I have too many things going on! I’m too busy to post here as often as I would like to. It’s either post a bunch of useless nonsense every other day, or actually work on my new books so they can finally get published and I can post about them. I have many different things in the works and I feel like they’ll turn out better if I just work on them and keep them to myself for now.
Moving In Silence allows you to focus on your goals, instead of focusing on broadcasting them to the rest of the world. Keep your plans to yourself until they are finally realized. Lots of people tend to overshare every aspect of their lives on social media: every trip to Starbucks, every life hack discovery, etc. If there is something you’re working on, some goal you’re working towards, keep it to yourself until that goal is achieved.
Upworthy has a really great article about Moving In Silence, which also features some posts from TikTok users offering solid advice. You can find the article here. Keep it quiet, everyone.

I used to talk to people I know about my goals, and some of them would say what I was working on was a waste of time, especially my writing. I’ve decided to just keep it to myself, and when I finally have a book published, I’ll let them know.
