Hello, readers! If you’re into football like me, then you’re probably aware the NFL Draft is this weekend. During April 23rd through the 25th, events will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, around Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I’ve never attended the Draft in person but it’s on my bucket list. Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing some fresh talent reach the struggling teams I support. I’m talking about the New York Giants and the New York Jets. Yes, I know, as a New Yorker, I’m supposed to pick one over the other. I just can’t seem to do that. It’s like being asked to choose a favorite among your children. I’m from Queens, so the unwritten rule is I’m supposed to be a Jets fan, but I still like both. Below is a pic of me in my old Giants shirt, which I’ve been rocking since 2008.

Die hard fans of struggling teams say the same thing: “This is gonna be our year!” Hey, maybe?! Speaking for the Giants, there’s a great chance that this really could be their year. Why, you ask? Easy: John Harbaugh. The former Head Coach of the Baltimore Ravens is now the Head Coach of the New York Giants. Last season the NFL made a lot of staffing changes—my polite way of saying people got fired and people “quit”. When the Ravens released John Harbaugh, I was a bit surprised. Then I remembered, this is how it goes: when I franchise fails, someone has to take the blame. Don’t blame the receivers who didn’t catch the ball or the QB who kept throwing interceptions. Don’t blame the play callers. Blame the Head Coach. When the Giants made Harbaugh an offer, I screamed at my TV, “GIVE HIM WHATEVER HE WANTS! IF HE ASKS FOR A PONY, BUY HIM A PONY DAMMIT!” When I heard it was official and Harbaugh had signed a contract with New York, I got excited. I was even happy to see him at a Knicks game. I thought, “He’s already fitting into New York.”

The Giants won the first Superbowl I ever watched: Superbowl XLII. They beat the Patriots. From that day forward I began to pay attention to the game, and I even started watching the Draft. I don’t know what’s going to happen this year. My sources say the Giants are looking at two players from Ohio State: linebacker Sonny Styles and wide receiver Carnell Tate. I’ll have to wait and see.
