Look! Up in the sky! Is it a bird? Or a plane? No, it’s…another scam!

Good Lord, when will these people give up? Never. I suppose. Yesterday I received an email from someone posing as Sierra Stovall from Slowburn, which is a division of Zando Publishing. This was another one of those well-crafted emails where the sender expresses interest in some sort of collaboration. I read it. Then I did my homework. I checked Zando’s website and looked at their contact page. They mentioned they have come across several people who try to pose as one of their representatives, and they also listed how their email addresses appear. So, I knew this was a scam.

ALWAYS DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!! Seriously, Google the name of the person and the company who contacted you and see if their info is legit. Hundreds of people get taken by these scams everyday because they failed to do a little research. We all work really hard to create our art, whether its books or drawings or paintings or illustrations for graphic novels. Our work is OUR WORK, and the last thing any of us need is one of these people out here trying to cheat us.

Always do your homework, and keep writing.
