Celebrate Spring with Our Lady of Righteous Rage!

Spring has officially sprung! The sun  is shining, flowers are in bloom, and temperatures are finally above 50 degrees. This month, Woolaston Entertainment is celebrating Our Lady of Righteous Rage. The next book in the series, Rock N Role Model, will be available towards the middle of the month. To celebrate, I’m going to post blogs devoted to the series. Plus, guest blogger Ebunnygirl will share why she loves the series so much. So, check back often, and I’ll keep you posted! 🙂

So, Yeah, I Ordered A Green Day Shirt

Like most responsible adults, I do my best to manage my finances by making smart choices when it comes to spending money. If I don’t really need something, I think twice about purchasing it. Of course, you have to have a little bit of fun every now and then, right? If we didn’t have fun, life would be boring!

I was poking around on Hot Topic’s website, just to see if there was anything new that might catch my eye.  I came across a Green Day t-shirt. Now, I don’t need a Green Day shirt, but I wanted a Green Day shirt, and this one looked pretty sweet: Billie Joe, Tre Cool and Mike, in black and white, from 1986. A good year. I was 4. Anyway…

Anyone who knows me, knows I have a TON of band tees. I mean, a TON. It’s borderline ridiculous. But I’m into music, and I’m into bands, so it just makes sense. I have 50 Green Day shirts already! (Okay, not 50, more like 6 or 7) I didn’t need another one. But, what the hell, right? So, I ordered it, and I patiently await it’s arrival in the mail.

Life is short. Enjoy it while you can. Buy stuff you don’t really need.

Confidence Boost

Happy Saturday, everyone! I wanted to share a piece of good news. I started my Books For Books Campaign at the very end of February, in order to increase sales for my website, and make donations to organizations in need. So far, it’s been one sale here, one sale there. It’s slow going, but it is only the beginning of March, so I decided to remain hopeful. But you know how it goes: you try something new, you go into it with high expectations, and when it doesn’t go as planned, you feel a little let down. Then, a customer reached out to me on Facebook’s Messenger. She asked about some of my books, and we talked about writing and publishing. I figured, maybe she’ll order a book, and I can match the order with a donation. The following morning, I checked my email, and received an unexpected surprise.

She had placed a $100 order! She order ALL of my bundles, and two copies of The Witch of Fulton Lane. I was completely shocked. I contacted her to make sure the order was correct (and it was). I thanked her for the order, and I let her know her books would be in the mail by Monday. Even now, I’m still in shock.

100dollarorder
My first major order!

This order isn’t just a boost for Woolaston Entertainment. It helped me regain my confidence as a writer and a business woman (just in time for International Women’s Day, which is even more awesome!) Plus, I will match the order by donating books to the organizations I selected.

To my customer: I promised not to mention you by name in my posts, but I have to thank you again for your support. I greatly appreciate it 🙂

Even when things look dark, and you feel like what you’re doing is pointless and you feel like saying, “Forget it. I’m done. I give up”, you have to keep going. Sometimes it takes a long while to get to where you want to be, but you will eventually get there.

I’m still matching purchases through my Books For Books Campaign: I will donate a book for every book that is purchased.

Thanks for reading.

Books For Books Campaign Update

March 2, 2019: The second official day of my Books For Books Campaign. Technically, it had a soft launch at the very end of February, but the official start date was March 1. The good news is, I received the first 2 orders yesterday! A copy of The Kindness of Strangers and a copy of A Rose Left Behind, both by June Parris (my mommy!) were sold, and will be shipped on Monday morning. This means, second copies of both books will be donated in order to match the order! So, I’m happy to say, Books For Books is off to a good start.

If you’re reading this and would like to participate, please visit the Store on the Woolaston Entertainment website, and order a book. I will match your order by donating to one of the 7 organizations listed on the Homepage. You can also Tweet using the hashtag, #BooksForBooks

Books For Books Campaign

March is coming, and it’s time for me to pick a new theme for a new month. I’ve been thinking about this particular idea for some time now, but I hesitated to go forward with it. But hey, it’s 2019, and this is the year for bold moves and fresh ideas. With that in mine, success or failure, I’m doing this.

I’ve created something known as the Books For Books Campaign. With the Store on the Woolaston Entertainment site up and running, this is the perfect time for me to make this move. For every book that is purchased through the Woolaston Entertainment site, I will donate a book to a library or organization in need. I have a list from the ALA (American Library Association) website or libraries and organizations that need books. I’m going to select three from that list, and donate to them. In order for this to work, I’m going to need everyone’s help. If you’re reading this, I hope you will consider joining me in this campaign, so I can put books in the hands of readers who need them. If you would like to recommend a library or organization for donations, please feel free to do so! You can leave the info in the comments on this post, or via the contact page on woolastonentertainment.com

This campaign is for March, but I’m going to start it now during the month of February. Thank you in advance, and I’m looking forward to donating as many books as possible!

Old School Writing

Like many of my fellow writers here, I have a day job, which ties up much of my free time. My previous day job came with some useful perks: computers with Microsoft Word, internet access, and downtime, which gave me the freedom I needed to write. This current job, doesn’t have any of those perks. So, I try to make the most of my free time when I can, when it comes to writing.

Not having computer access during those eight to nine hour work days, is kind of a drag. But, I did manage to find a silver lining. I bought a fresh notebook, and when I had a quiet moment at work, I started working on a draft of Rock N Role Model, the next companion book in the Our Lady of Righteous Rage series. So far, I’ve written sixteen chapters and 132 pages. Considering that I work five days a week, and my commute to and from work is a bit time consuming, this is actually pretty good for me. Any progress is good progress.

With Woolaston Entertainment’s 25th anniversary taking place this year, I’ve been reflecting on how W.E. came to be in the first place. Handwriting books for myself, is a major part of W.E.’s creation. It’s kind of nice to go back to that old-school method of working on a rough draft for one of my next books. I intend to complete this handwritten draft, before I begin typing anything.

I hope you all have a progressive week.
