In 2010, I published the first book in the Valentine series. This is a story that was created by accident—yes, by accident. I was working on artwork for a different … Continue reading The Upcoming Valentine Series
When I first published Valentine in 2010 (then republished in in 2015), I didn’t plan on writing so many books in the series. At most, I thought the Valentine series would contain three books. Instead, the primary series has five books, with a spin-off series which contains five books and another series with six books. All together, there are sixteen books in the Valentine universe, and I have another series planned which will contain at least three (possibly five; I’m wacky like that).

Valentine led to the Valentine Apart series: five books about characters featured in the primary series. The lives of Allan and Mac Avery, Lola Vencent, Kelly McCormick and Jo Fuentes are explored in a series of prequels as well as stories that coincide with the events in the primary series. Readers learn about Allan and Mac’s lives as hitmen, how Lola came to work for Rafferty, how Kelly became a member of the Syndicate and what led Jo to work for Kelly. But there’s a story before all of these stories. There’s a character who ultimately laid the foundation for all of these different paths to cross.
Enter Lucia Milazzo: the star of Lucia and the Saints. If Valentine Apart is a prequel, then Lucia is the prequel to the prequel. Before Val got her reputation, before Lola fired her first shot, there was Lucia. With all of the heads of the Syndicate (the network of criminals found in the Valentine series) being men, it’s ironic that the most important members can be traced back to one woman. She’s responsible for bringing John Rafferty into the fold, which technically makes her responsible for every event that occurs afterwards.
Lucia and the Saints not only introduces Lucia herself, it introduces many of the characters from the Valentine series. Readers meet young Allan and Mac Avery, learn how Vincent and Victor Entienne came to work for Rafferty, and why Jacob almost wasn’t hired. They also learn how Rafferty made his fortune (with Lucia’s help).
At the end of the sixth and final book in the series, Lucia finds herself with a choice to make. Her decision ultimately effects the lives of everyone in the Valentine series.
I used to be against prequels. I felt like they didn’t serve a purpose: if you’ve read the main story, then you already know the outcome. Then I decided to give prequels the credit they deserve. They offer insight into certain characters and situations. In Lucia and the Saints, the questions of “How did Rafferty become so powerful?” and “How did the Syndicate get started?” are answered. Also, the main question: “Who is responsible for all of this?”
Lucia and the Saints is available on Amazon and the Woolaston Entertainment online store.
It’s Valentine’s Day. Love is in the air….well, maybe for some of us. How about the love of books? It may not be a romantic love, but it is a love, just the same.
This Valentine’s Day weekend, the first of all three Valentine series will be FREE. You can download the ebook versions of Valentine, Allan and Mac, and Lucia and the Saints Volume One, for Kindle and Kindle App for free. Yes, FREE. If you haven’t read any of the books from these series, I want you to get acquainted with them through the first books. You can follow Val Entienne on her road trip, join Allan and Mac Avery on their adventures in the Syndicate, and meet Lucia and her band of girl-bosses known as the Lady Saints.
The books will be free Friday February 14 through Sunday night, February 16, 2020. If you download any copies, I hope you enjoy them. If you enjoy them, please consider leaving a review! 🙂
March 27, 2010: it was a wonderful time. My second published book, Valentine, had just been released. It was a proud moment for me, because Valentine was a book I had written just a … Continue reading Valentine’s 10th Anniversary
There are so three reasons I’m excited about the release of my latest creation, Lucia and the Saints: Volume Five. (1) It’s my 30th published book! (2) It’s the second to last in the series, and (3) It helped me get over my writer’s block, and get out of my dry spell.
Volume Five is the step before the conclusion of the Lucia series. It also brings us closer to the next Valentine series, Valentine R. Should you read Lucia before Valentine R comes out? Not necessarily, but it may help to understand the story a little more. Whenever I write a companion or “spin-off” series, I try to make it stand alone. So, you can read it along with the original series, or you can read it by itself. Lucia works the same way. You can read it, without reading any of the Valentine books first, but it you do read both series, you will recognize the connections between the two.

Volume Five sees the Lady Saints in action. They’re about to do something that will earn respect from several of the businesses in their area, and reveal another side of Lucia. The girls have a better understanding of who they’re working with, but they’re about to learn even more. Plus, an important person in Valentine’s life will be introduced.
Lucia and the Saints: Volume Five is available in ebook form, on Amazon. Look for it in paperback form by the end of the year.
Earlier this year, I released the first four books of a new series, Lucia and the Saints. This series is a prequel to the Valentine series, and traces the begining of John Rafferty’s entrance into the Syndicate. It also tells the story of the woman who hepled him rise to power, Lucia Milazzo. You could play Six Degrees of Separation with the other characters in the Valentine series, and you would end up at Lucia every time.
So far, Lucia has managed to introduce John to some key people, help him secure a few night clubs, and make some money. Plus, there’s some other important issues at play: the Lady Saints in New Orleans trying to maintain the business they started, and the connection between Lucia Milazzo and Lucia Calderon. With all of this, how is the series going to end?

If you’ve read the Valentine series, then you know, Lucia isn’t mentioned anywhere. No one says her name, no one ever brings her up in a conversation. This can only mean, by the time Val goes on her roadtrip to Cali, Lucia is nolonger a part of John Rafferty’s life. So, how did they part ways? On friendly terms, or not so friendly terms? And where do the Lady Saints fit into all of this? The final book in the Valentine series reveals how Rafferty’s story ends, so one has to wonder, if Lucia will have something to say about that…
The final two books in the Lucia and the Saints series will be available late this Fall.
Hello! This past weekend I released the fourth volume in the Lucia and the Saints series. Volume Four finds Lucia and John purchasing a second nightclub; this time its located in Chicago. While Lucia prides herself on her skills as a business woman, it seems the men around her don’t want to take her seriously. Lucia decides its time for her to show the fellas what she’s made of. Meanwhile, in New Orleans, the confrontation between Brian and the Lady Saints is about to come to a head, as the connection between Lucia Calderon and Lucia Milazzo is finally revealed!

I will be taking a short break from writing the remaining two books in this series, in order to finish some of the other projects I started. But, rest assured, the rest of the series will be released within the next two months.
I had planned to release my mother’s third book, A New England Serial Killer, this past weekend, but I was feeling a bit under the weather and was unable to finish editing. I did however, manage to create an image for the cover. Don’t worry: no one was harmed in the creation of this pic.

I hope to have A New England Serial Killer ready before the end of the week.
I’m also getting back to The Age of the Daughter and Jo Fuentes: Project Sleep. I put them on hold for Lucia and I’m glad I did. During my hiatus from working on those two books, I came up with new ideas for them.
More things to come!
