In the world of Our Lady of Righteous Rage, there are musicians, writers, business owners and artists. One of these artists is Carmen Portez, the Dominican and Puerto Rican painter who owns an art gallery. Carmen was introduced in the first book in the series and has made a few appearances here and there throughout the series. She went to high school with Amy and Vanessa and helped create the Urban Collective. Still, I haven’t featured her as much as I should have. September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month, and what better way to celebrate than giving Carmen more time in the spotlight?
Carmen is making an appearance in the upcoming Forward Motion, the fifth book in the Our Lady series. You’ll also find her tagging along with Erin and company in Homeward Bound. More importantly, she’s getting a book of her own in the Companion series. The Purloined Portrait (working title) finds Carmen dealing with a dilemma inside her art gallery. There’s a dispute between two artists that Carmen will have to resolve, before things get way out of hand. I’m currently working on the draft and I expect to have it completed by the end of Fall.
