For those of you who, like me, are keeping up with the NFL playoff games, the Chiefs are out, the Bills are in, and things are looking pretty good. I have a good feeling we’re going to see two teams in the Superbowl who haven’t been there in years. Anyway, back to writing…

I’m so thankful for the option to schedule things to release on their own. It gives me more free time to get other things done. If you’ve never used Amazon’s KDP or if you’re new to WordPress, let me share what I mean.

Scheduling Posts On WordPress

I’m not just a writer, I have a 9-5 that takes up most of my time during the week. If I could, I’d spend several hours a day everyday, just writing posts and working on my books. When I do find time to write I try to make the most of it. I spend time on one of my books and I also work on posts for the two WordPress sites I run. Woolaston Entertainment’s site is a WordPress site, and so is the writing blog I created for my library. By creating posts and scheduling them to release at different times, I can share more content. If you only have one day a week to create content, you can create at least three posts, but you don’t have to post them all on one day or save them and come back and post them later. When you click on the publish button in the upper right corner, you’ll see the option to set a date for your post to be published.

Scheduling Book Releases On KDP

I didn’t start using this feature until this year, and I’m glad I did. In fact, I may use it from now on. Scheduling a release date for a new book on KDP may help you focus on getting your book ready sooner. Procrastination and I used to be very good friends, but lately we’ve been growing apart. When I really focus and lock in on a project, it gets DONE DONE DONE (sorry, the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack is stuck in my head). I set a release date for They Said What?, and it made me focus on getting the book ready for publication. A pre-selected release date in KDP usually gives you up to a week to make all of your changes before the book is published. My release date for They Said What? is January 27, and I have until January 21 to make any changes. Everything is ready, so I have nothing else to do but let KDP release the book. Fortune’s Wing The Omnibus is scheduled to be released on February 17, and I have until February 11 to make changes. This gives me plenty of time to order an author’s proof copy, read it, make corrections, upload a corrected manuscript and let KDP release the book.

Scheduling takes pressure off of me to create content every day. If I can devote a few hours in one day to create posts and content and schedule it to release across several days, it makes me feel more accomplished. It almost feels like having an assistant, who posts for you while you get other work done. If you’ve never tried scheduling give it a try.
