You may be thinking, there’s going to be a Fortune’s Wing Omnibus? With tires and seats and everything? No, it won’t be that type of bus. Sorry to disappoint you. But I thought it was funny to see a bus as part of the definition for the word omnibus. In this case, however, I’m referring to the noun: a volume containing several novels or other items previously published separately. No buses here.
Putting together the draft for Fortune’s Wing The Omnibus was not a difficult task. I had already published the three books in the series and I only needed to merge them into a single book. But what am I offering you, dear reader? A chance to read material you may have already read? Well that sounds boring, doesn’t it? I decided if I was going to publish an omnibus I needed to give something extra. So, I turned to my fourth Fortune’s Wing book, the one I wrote back in 2002 but never published. That became my something extra. Fortune’s Wing: After was sort of a “world is safe, no what?” follow-up to the original three. This book will contain previously published material, along with material no one has read before. Like the previous three books I needed to do some editing and make a few changes here and there. I needed to be sure the fourth book’s story aligned with the previous three. The work is done, the draft is ready, and all I need to do now is order a proof copy and check for any mistakes.
The best part of this upcoming omnibus is it forced me to go back and re-check the first three books. I did another round of editing for them so I can proudly say, no matter which books you read, singular or the omnibus, you’re reading the best possible versions of the story.
Fortune’s Wing The Omnibus will be released on February 17. I hope you enjoy it.
