We lost three wonderful people this week. First, Dolly Parton. Then Tim Curry. I was at home yesterday evening when ABC World News reported Peter Cullen had passed away. I couldn’t believe it, and I still can’t believe it. The day before I had literally purchased tickets for Transformers The Movie: 40th Anniversary which will hit AMC theaters next month. The first time I saw it was in the movie theater when it was released in 1986. Peter Cullen was the voice of Optimus Prime, leader of the autobots. Transformers was my favorite childhood cartoon, and looking back, I have to say Peter Cullen was the voice of my childhood.
To lose three great people in one week is astonishing. All three brought the world a tremendous amount of joy to the stage and to the screen, and I think I’ll miss Peter most of all. The world is a little darker without them.
Rest in Peace, Peter Cullen.
