Hello, good readers! It’s a new month and a New Year and as far as writing and publishing are concerned, I’m off to a great start. They Said What? releases on January 27, while Fortune’s Wing The Omnibus releases on February 17. I’m working on the draft for Louder! and I’ve also taken the time to comb through some of my older books in order to correct any other typos I didn’t catch during previous editing sessions.

This year I wanted to try something different. Almost all of my paperback and hardcover books are 6in x 9in. The only exception is Woolaston Entertainment Presents 25, which is an 8in x 10in book. I chose a larger size when I published it because its a compendium of sorts, with color photos and illustrations. I wanted to try another size for my latest book, They Said What?. The paperback edition of this book will be 5in x 8in, which is slightly larger than mass market size. I just received my proof copy in the mail, and I must admit the smaller size is pretty nice. It’s a short book so I didn’t see the need for it to be 6×9. Plus, here’s a fun fact: a smaller size will stretch a shorter book out and give it more pages.

The pic featured above shows my author’s proof copy of They Said What?. I will definitely consider publishing more of my paperbacks in this 5×8 size in the future, especially if its a short book. When I publish Woolaston Entertainment’s next anniversary book/my memoir, it will probably be an 8×10 book. If you publish with KDP, you may want to explore the size options for your paperbacks and hardcover books. You’re not limited to 6×9. Depending on the type of book you’re publishing, a larger or smaller size may be a better option.
